New England Patriots rookie defensive tackle Vincent Valentine was not seen by reporters during the open portion of the team’s practice Thursday, but he still appeared on the team’s participation report as “limited.”
The third-round pick from Nebraska has missed the last three games with a back injury he suffered in the lone Patriots loss of the season to the Buffalo Bills in Week 4. If he did return to practice in some fashion this week, it would be a step forward for the 6-foot-4, 329-pound run stuffer. The Patriots were counting on him to be the primary sub for starting defensive tackles Malcom Brown and Alan Branch.
The 6-1 Patriots will play the Bills again Sunday in Buffalo.
