New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady might be described as the NFL’s greatest “heel,” to use a wrestling term. But, “The Nature Boy” apparently can’t get enough of him.
Wrestling icon Ric Flair couldn’t help but admit his infatuation with the future Hall of Fame quarterback, who he met for the first time at a football recruiting event at the University of Michigan.
“I’ll admit it,” Flair told Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso. “I have a man crush on Tom Brady.”
It’s rare for the bombastic Flair to gush about another athlete, just look back at his past antics during his wrestling days. He even coined the phrase “To be the man, you have to beat the man.” Brady is clearly the man in Flair’s eyes and he didn’t even have to get in the ring with him.
“Everybody loves to hate Tom Brady, but I love to love him,” Flair said. “He is the best. He is so damn good. I wouldn’t be surprised if they win their fifth ring this year.”
Patriots fans probably share similar sentiments. Brady threw for 406 yards and 3 touchdowns in his first game back from his “Deflategate” suspension. Just like many egotistical wrestlers, Brady is seeking revenge on the entire NFL. His vengeance tour continues Sunday afternoon against the Cincinnati Bengals in his first game back at Gillette Stadium.
