Is it possible to get a penalty in the middle of the week?
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith said that he will not tolerate any after-the-play shots from New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. “All of that extra hitting and talking, that’s not going to fly,” Smith said to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “That’s not my game. I like to line up and play. ‘Give me your best shot, and I’ll give you mine.’ But if you hit me after the whistle, there’s going to be a fight.
“He’s a physical player, and I’m a physical player,” Smith said. “So, I’m pretty sure we’ll have a good matchup.”
Beckham appeared to be on his best behavior during the Giants Sunday Night Football loss to the Green Bay Packers. He also played better, catching 5 passes for 56 yards and a touchdown.
The previous two weeks have been as much of a circus as Beckham’s antics on the field. Head coach Ben McAdoo and quarterback Eli Manning both said to the media that he needs to calm down. Rumors circulated that Beckham would be benched if he had another outburst, which McAdoo denied.
This is the hardest part for Beckham now. He could be clean from now all the way to December. If he has another outburst, he may as well have had one every week.
