The NFL continues to hit New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.’s wallet hard. The enigmatic wide receiver has had enough of it.
Beckham is appealing his fine of $24,039 for taking his helmet off outside of the end zone while celebrating his game-winning touchdown two weeks ago against the Baltimore Ravens, according to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan. Beckham was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct on the play.
This is Beckham’s fourth fine in six games this season, increasing his total to $96,772 in fines. In the latest instance, Beckham might have a case against the fine. The rule states a player can be flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct if he takes his helmet off in the field of play, but Beckham was clearly outside the field of play when he ripped his helmet off in jubilation.
Then again, Beckham’s antics this season probably won’t give him any leeway with the league. The benefit of the doubt might not be on Beckham’s side this time.
