Fresh off A.J. Green enjoying a lavish vacation on Revis Island, the New York Jets and Darrelle Revis have flipped their focus to the division-rival Buffalo Bills.
Gang Green’s playoff chances were dismantled by Buffalo last season after a 22-17 loss in Week 17.
It’s a wound that’s still fresh in the Jets’ locker room.
“We have a bad taste in our mouth from last year and I’m sure that will carry over into this game. Guys are aware what happened last year.” Revis told reporters on Tuesday. “For us it’s just to play poised. We are going to come into a hostile environment. It’s very tough to play up there. But at the same time, we’ve won games up there in the past.”
Last year’s crippling loss had much to do with Ryan Fitzpatrick’s 3-interception performance. It was an inopportune time for the quarterback to have his worst game of the season.
The Jets plan to use last year as motivation to try to get in the winner’s column in 2016.
Revis might have a little extra motivation. In Week 1, Green torched Revis to the tune of 12 receptions for 180 yards and a touchdown. It was a performance that left pundits wondering if Father Time is starting to catch up to the future Hall of Fame cornerback.
Revis will have a chance to tame that talk on Sunday.
