Jets WR Brandon Marshall believes Browns will draft Clemson QB Deshaun Watson
New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall made a bold prediction, but it wasn’t even about his team.
Marshall gave his take on who the Cleveland Browns will take with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft during Showtime’s “Inside the NFL” Tuesday night. He believes the Browns are going to take Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.
“Last night we saw the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns next year: Deshaun Watson,” Marshall said on Tuesday night’s episode.
Watson elevated his draft stock Monday night by leading his Tigers to a last-second upset over Alabama in the College Football Playoff national championship game.
The jury is still out on where Watson should be drafted. Most experts believe he will be taken in the first round and potentially as the first quarterback off the board in a lackluster class. But, others believe he’s still a work in progress and might not be worth a top 10 selection.
Marshall was clearly impressed by Watson’s performance on the grandest stage in college football. If the Browns and four other teams pass on Watson, you could expect Marshall to lobby heavily for his Jets to take Watson with the No. 6 overall pick.
