NFL ratings are struggling, particularly in primetime. So NBC is going back to the drawing board and bringing in a Grammy award winning group that all the hip kids are listening to in an attempt to start the production with a bang.
A cappella group “Penatonix” will sing the opening intro for NBC’s Thursday Night Football broadcast, according to the Associated Press. The group, headlined by Kevin Olusola, Kirstin Maldonado, Avi Kaplan, Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying, will sing a song titled “Weekend Go,” which is a rendition of their original song “Sing.”
NBC will broadcast nine Thursday night games this season that will also air on NFL Network. The first game is next week, Nov. 3, when the Atlanta Falcons square off with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Perhaps a little Penatonix is the remedy Thursday Night Football needs. Well, that is until the games actually kick off.
