Fans of Thursday Night Football should expect to see the very best broadcasts from both CBS and NBC this season.
The NFL announced Saturday that the lead broadcasters from CBS and NBC are obligated to call Thursday Night Football games.
“Both CBS and NBC will produce Thursday Night Football with their lead broadcasters and production teams, and both will contribute to the production of Thursday Night Football exclusively on NFL Network,” the NFL said in a statement.
The statement specifically mentions that NBC’s Sunday Night Football commentary and production team will be required to work Thursday night contests as well. The NFL does not have any input on who the personnel for each team will consist of.
This means you can expect to see plenty of CBS’s top team featuring Jim Nantz and Phil Simms in the booth and Tracy Wolfson on the sidelines, and even more of NBC’s No. 1 group highlighting Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth, with Michele Tafoya down on the field.
