The NFL has reached a new level in the digital age and revealed an interesting social media development just hours before the 2016 regular season kicks off.
Each NFL team now has its own specific emoji on Twitter. Fans can tweet the emoji by using a specific hashtag.
That’s right, you can now express your fandom on Twitter with a simple tagline that prompts an emoji. Each hashtag is unique to that specific team. So while some teams like the Chiefs, Broncos and Jaguars require nothing other than the team nickname in the hashtag, others have more unique taglines that have served as team’ slogans recently.
Using #KeepPounding prompts a Carolina Panthers emoji, as does #FinsUp for the Miami Dolphins. Some of these are a bit of a stretch. Chicago’s #FeedDaBears hashtag is a bit out there. But for the most part, these emojis reflect previous slogans that teams and fans were probably already using frequently on their social media accounts.
Here’s an example of what some of these emojis look like when you type them out in a tweet.
So whether you’re tweeting your fan pride, or even trying to send a message to your favorite team, you can use these unique NFL emojis to stand out from the pack.
