The final week of the preseason will start one day earlier.
The NFL moved Thursday’s Washington Redskins vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers game to Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. EST.
Tropical Depression Nine is due to hit the Tampa Bay area on Thursday. Buccaneers chief operating officer Brian Ford told the Associated Press all parties involved felt this was the best decision.
“It has become apparent that the most severe weather associated with Tropical Depression Nine will likely make landfall on Thursday,” Ford said. “This decision was made by both teams in conjunction with the National Football League and local authorities in an effort to ensure the safety of our fans, players and stadium staff.”
The game will still played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
