The kicks looked so makeable, but neither kicker could come through for the win. That’s how Sunday night’s game between the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks ended in a 6-6 tie, with Chandler Catanzaro and Stephen Hauschka missing field goals that were less than 30 yards.
It sent the nation into mass criticism, which begs the question: Just how easy are these kicks to make?
ESPN’s Monday Night Football crew, which is preparing for the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans to play in Denver, decided to give it a look. They couldn’t come close to replicating the crowd noise or pressure the kickers felt on Sunday. They couldn’t add that element of Bobby Wagner jumping over the Cardinals line, either. But they gave the kicks a go anyway.
