It’s Friday, which means the NFL is handing out fines for various violations of league policy from Week 1. The most notable fine, of course, concerns twerking.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown received a combined $15,191 fine for his touchdown celebration and for his shoes, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. If you missed Brown’s inspired twerk, well here it is below:
Brown wasn’t the only player fined on Friday, though. Another notable fine went to Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who received fines for both unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct. Donald’s penalties in the game resulted in his ejection in the fourth quarter, and will cost him $21,269 in total, also according to Rapoport.
All of Odell Beckham Jr., Victor Cruz, Chandler Jones, D.J. Swearinger, Patrick Peterson and Michael Bennett were fined for various celebration reasons. All but Bennett received $12,154 fines, presumably for group celebration, according to Tom Pelissero of USA Today. Bennett’s fine was for $9,115, according to Pelissero. You can lot Bennett in the Brown camp for a thrusting motion.
One of the largest penalties on the day went to San Diego Chargers safety Jahleel Addae, who was fined $24,309 for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He also has Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley fined $9,115 for taunting after he threw a football at San Francisco 49ers cornerback Tramaine Brock.
