Most people that watched the Pittsburgh Steelers drub the Miami Dolphins on Sunday will remember wide receiver Antonio Brown’s early touchdowns, or running back Le’Veon Bell’s big day.
However, others will remember a moment in the broadcast booth where it appears that CBS’ Phil Simms farted.
An internet video, courtesy of Craig Gass’ Facebook account and NESN, shows Simms’ face and tone change while talking about the weather as if something happened inside of him. His partner’s, CBS’ Jim Nantz, face also changed almost immediately. After a few seconds he left the set and Simms asked him, “Are you warmer now than you were earlier in the game?” with a slight grin on his face.
Nantz responded, “I’m fine, I’m worried about you.”
The circumstantial evidence is pretty rock solid against Simms. The only other explanation is an inside joke so hilarious that it caused one of the most professional broadcasters in the world to leave the set. Unfortunately, there was no sound of a bodily function in the video.
So we will be left with nothing but a strong suspicion, but we have all been told that it is wise to watch out for the quiet ones.
