The first seven games of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2016 season have not been kind.
They are in first place in the AFC North, but it has not come without a price. The Steelers are dealing with a lot of injuries and hope to use their bye week to get as healthy as possible.
Wide receiver Markus Wheaton has missed four games this season with a shoulder injury. He is trying to hydrate himself with Pedialyte to help with his recovery, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Defensive end Cam Heyward has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury. The plan has always been for him to return for the Steelers’ next game against the Baltimore Ravens. He told the media that he ran 20 wind sprints on Wednesday.
“I got to be here rehabbing and doing as much cardio as possible,” Heyward said to the media, via Fowler.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is also supposed to return to the field against the Ravens and has been seen throwing at practice this week. Defensive end Bud Dupree was supposed to be one of their best defensive players, but he was placed on injured reserve before the season started after needing surgery for two sports hernias.
The Steelers hope he will return to practice the week after the game against the Ravens.
