The Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense might be hurting on the outside this weekend.
Their Thursday injury report is littered with wide receivers. Newly discovered deep threat Sammie Coates did not practice for the second consecutive day because of a hand laceration. He confirmed to PennLive’s Jacob Klinger that if he doesn’t practice tomorrow, he will not play on Sunday.
Markus Wheaton also missed his second consecutive practice with a shoulder injury. However, Eli Rogers will return after missing two games with turf toe, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
The injuries may give some young receivers an opportunity to make a name for themselves. Cobi Hamilton is a practice squad player who took some first-team repetitions on Thursday. He is eligible to be on the active roster this week and told Fowler that he “kind of got a good feeling” that he will suit up on Sunday.
