The Pittsburgh Steelers will be short-handed in a pivotal showdown with the New England Patriots.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin announced defensive end Cam Heyward will miss Sunday’s game while he recovers from a hamstring injury, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Ed Bouchette. Heyward missed Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins because of the same injury.
Tomlin also said quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is officially out as well after undergoing surgery for his meniscus injury. Roethlisberger could return after Pittsburgh’s bye next week.
Heyward and Roethlisberger aren’t the only injured Steelers. In fact, there are plenty of others ailing. Tomlin said the team will see how things go with wide receiver Markus Wheaton, running back DeAngelo Williams and defensive backs Mike Mitchell, Markus Golden, Shamarko Thomas and Marcus Gilbert, according to Bouchette.
