Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Coty Sensabaugh used to be a teammate of Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota, so he felt the need to give him some advice after intercepting one of his passes on Thursday night.
“You looked right at me, I was surprised you threw it,” Sensabaugh told Mariota after the game according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com.
Sensabaugh spent four seasons with the Titans to start his career before spending the 2016 season with the Los Angeles Rams and New York Giants. He joined the Steelers during the offseason and got his first start in Week 11 with Joe Haden out with a fractured fibula.
The veteran cornerback snagged his first interception of the season and the third of his career against Mariota and the Titans on a night when the Steelers would intercept 4 passes. Outside of a long touchdown on the first play from scrimmage to start the second half, the secondary was dominant in the 40-17 victory.
Sensabaugh, in particular, showcased impressive depth in the secondary for the Steelers. And their defense continues to look like one of the best in football after the 4 turnovers and 5 sacks they racked up.
Now, they’ll need Sensabaugh to continue to play at a high level while Haden recovers.
