The Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t finish Sunday’s win unscathed.
Steelers starting defensive end Cam Heyward sustained a hamstring injury in the win over the New York Jets. The sixth-year D-lineman had 1 tackle before exiting Sunday’s win.
Heyward received an MRI following the game and it revealed the injury. He is expected to miss two or three weeks, per NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala.
His loss comes at an interesting time for the 4-1 Steelers. Pittsburgh has a date with the Miami Dolphins this weekend before facing the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens.
Pittsburgh will sorely miss Heyward if he is unable to go. He is the Steelers’ best lineman in their 3-4 defense. He’s a great run stuffer and provides a steady pass rush.
Heyward has registered 17 tackles and 3 sacks in five games this season. In his career, the defensive lineman has 214 tackles and 25 sacks.
