One of the major reasons why the Pittsburgh Steelers are tied for the best record in the AFC is because they are winning the battle at the line of scrimmage.
Entering Week 13, the Steelers’ defense has totaled 38 sacks, which is the second most in the NFL. On the offensive end, Pittsburgh has allowed only 15 sacks. That mark is the fourth fewest in the NFL, via the team’s official website.
Look no further than those two stats why the Steelers are currently standing at 9-2. All 22’s Steelers Facebook Live stated on Wednesday that the team still struggles with consistency, plays down to its competition, allows too many big plays on defense and has more execution errors than one would like. Yet, Pittsburgh’s talent is undeniable.
Winning the battle at the line of scrimmage is the recipe for success. If the Steelers keep doing that, they should bode well going forward.
