Steelers question whether Dolphins QB Matt Moore should have returned after massive hit
Many were shocked to see Miami Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore re-enter the AFC wild-card game on Sunday after taking a massive hit from Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree. It was even more surprising to see Moore miss only one play after leaving the game.
Moore’s speedy return sparked some questions whether concussion protocol was properly administered by medical personnel. Some Steelers also couldn’t believe Moore was back in the game that quickly. Linebacker Lawrence Timmons questioned whether Moore was evaluated properly.
“If he went through the protocol, yeah,” Timmons said, according to PennLive.com’s Jacob Klinger. “But if he went through the protocol and he was a little shaky still and they put him back in, that’s not cool. CTE is real. You’ve seen that movie Concussion. That’s crazy.”
Guard Ramon Foster thinks the NFL should follow up on how Moore was treated.
“Uh, that’s their decision,” Foster said, per Klinger. “If they’re smart about it, the NFL will check that out.”
Given the magnitude of the hit Moore took, perhaps the NFL should dig deeper to ensure proper protocol was practiced.
