Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is on pace to play in Week 13.
Smith-Schuster practiced for the second-consecutive day on Thursday, per Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The receiver’s participation on Thursday is a good sign for his availability for when the Steelers take on the Bengals in Cincinnati. Smith-Schuster missed last week’s win over the Green Bay Packers due to a hamstring injury.
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is happy to see one of his weapons back on the field.
“He’s a guy who brings a different dynamic,” Roethlisberger said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “He’s smart, can be physical and makes plays for us. He’s just another weapon.”
Smith-Schuster’s had a nice rookie season in Pittsburgh. He leads all rookie receivers in yards and receptions. His 33 catches ranks third on the Steelers.
The rookie’s return will again create an interesting dynamic at receiver. Martavis Bryant had his most productive game of the season while Smith-Schuster was out last week. Bryant’s been disgruntled with his diminished role in the offense. Smith-Schuster’s return means less footballs thrown to everybody expect Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell.
