The next time Jeremy Lane refrains from standing during the playing of the national anthem, he might be joined by some of his teammates.
Both wide receiver Doug Baldwin and linebacker Bobby Wagner have hinted that the Seahawks might be planning a team-wide protest of the national anthem. Baldwin said he has considered sitting down during the anthem.
“I have (considered it),” Baldwin told The Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta. “I want to make sure I get all of my ducks in a row before I do so.’’
Wagner took it a step further, foreshadowing that a group of Seahawks could protest to send a stronger message.
“…anything we want to do, it’s not going to be individual,” Wagner told Condotta. “It’s going to be a team thing. That’s what the world needs to see. The world needs to see people coming together versus being individuals.”
