Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston will be returning to the field on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter said on Wednesday that Winston will be in the starting lineup, via ESPN’s Jenna Laine.
Winston originally suffered an injury to his throwing shoulder during a Week 6 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He played in the Buccaneers’ next two games, but he aggravated the injury against the New Orleans Saints in Week 9 and has not played since.
It has been a disappointing 2017 season for the Buccaneers. They entered the season with playoff aspirations but lost five consecutive games early in the season. When their offense played well against the Cardinals and Buffalo Bills both of those teams scored 30 or more points.
The Buccaneers defense was great against the Patriots in Week 5 holding them to 19 points, but the offense only managed 14.
In Winston’s eight starts this year he has thrown for 1,920 yards, 10 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. In his third season as a professional he has not lived up to the hype as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Winston can get some of the bad taste out of the mouths of Buccaneers’ fans with strong play during the final five games of the seasons.
