Training camp is almost here, which means another season of HBO’s Hard Knocks will begin soon.
The 2017 edition will follow the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they prepare for the NFL season. The HBO trailer for the upcoming series features Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.
It begins with McCoy running onto the turf at Raymond James Stadium to do some training. He starts running bleachers and all of his accomplishments as a professional are listed. Then about halfway through the trailer, his stats all count back to zero to represent how everyone starts from the same place at the beginning of the season.
Even without Hard Knocks, the Buccaneers would be one of the most interesting teams in the NFL. They won six of their final eight games in 2016 and challenged for a playoff berth.
Second-year quarterback Jameis Winston began to look like the player the Bucs were hoping he would become when they drafted him No. 1 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. Also, wide receiver Mike Evans began to assert himself as one of the best players in the NFL at his position.
The Buccaneers continued to try to get better during the offseason. They signed wide receiver DeSean Jackson in free agency and selected tight end O.J. Howard in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
With McCoy leading the defense, Hard Knocks will be giving NFL fans an in-depth look at a true team on the rise.
