Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins has struggled quite a bit this season, but his play in recent weeks has definitely been better. On Sunday, Washington is playing the Detroit Lions and Cousins made a HUGE play to give his team the lead late in the game.
With his legs.
That’s Cousin faking the handoff and running it in for a long touchdown. That gave Washington the lead — also notice key blocking by tight end Vernon Davis in the end zone — and many felt that the game was over there.
But Matthew Stafford is pretty good at throwing the football occasionally and, well, Anquan Boldin is also pretty good at catching the football.
You put those things together, and you get a Lions lead with under half a minute to go in the game. The extra point was good and Detroit took a three-point lead. Washington got the ball back and went deep a few times, but they were unable to work anymore magic and fell to Detroit, 20-17.
